On Saturday night, the OPEL SKYLINERS lost by 73-65 in the Hessian local derby against Avitos Gießen. From the very beginning on, a close game developed, in which obviously neither of the teams wanted to give it a miss. Gießen finally took the lead in the middle of the second quarter but was not able to break away too far.
With 4 minutes remaining in the contest, Frankfurt had made up leeway and cut Gießen's lead down to 62-61 keyed by a three-pointer by Andy Kwiatkowski and another successful shot by Pascal Roller. However, motivated by the frenetic atmosphere at the Stadthalle Gießen-Ost the home team kept cool, saved their advantage and consequently brought in 2 very important points for them. Best players from among the OPEL SKYLINERS were Robert Garrett (18 points) and Andy Kwiatkowski (16 points, 6 rebounds).
The quarters: 73-65 (16-19, 22-15, 15-16, 20-15)
