Co-Trainer Thomas Johnson wechselt in die Türkei

Johnson kam Mitte April zusammen mit Gordon Herbert an den Main und wäre gerne auch nächste Saison in Frankfurt tätig gewesen.

Sportdirektor Kamil Novak: „Wir wollten Tom sehr gerne als Co-Trainer für unser Team behalten, haben ihm aber nach der Saison nur einen bis Ende August befristeten Vertrag mit einer Verlängerungsoption zum Saisonende geben können. Gleichzeitig haben wir ihm dringend empfohlen ein Auge auf dem Trainermarkt offen zu halten. Als nun das sehr gute Angebot des Top-Clubs Ankara kam waren Gordie, Gunnar und ich uns sofort einig und haben Tom empfohlen es anzunehmen. Tom wird dort sozusagen zu Konditionen eines Head Coaches arbeiten. Wir wünschen ihm viel Glück bei der neuen Herausforderung und bedanken uns sehr für sein Engagement in der letzten Saison!“

Tom Johnson: „I would like to express my deepest appreciation to the DEUTSCHE BANK SKYLINERS for giving me the opportunity to work with them at the end of the 2009-2010 season. It is not often that you can work in such a professional organization that fosters such a positive environment. The structure and resources allowed the sportive staff and coaches to maximize the potential of each individual which brought the team to the brink of winning a championship. I will unfortunately not be part of the 2010-2011 coaching staff. I am disappointed that I won’t be part of a dynamic coaching staff headed by Gordon Herbert and supported by Klaus Perwas . The 3 of us worked extremely well as a team and great friendships and respect grew out of our short journey together. I hope that I will be able to work with them again in the future.I would like to thank Gunnar Wobke and Kamil Novak for all the support and kindness they showed me during my stay with the team and wish them all the best in their quest to maintain and build on the success we had last season in the midst of difficult financial times. Last but not least I want to thank the fans and all the support staff that I came in contact with on a daily basis. Your support and enthusiasm was amazing.”
